Let me start off by saying that I have a child who does not love to lick any beaters, spoons, bowls, or the like while we are baking. Combine that with the fact he doesn’t like cake or tacos and I am pretty sure that he isn’t mine. Never mind that he has my nose and my eyes… he doesn’t like two of my favorite foods. His most redeeming quality is that he loves hugs and homemade whipped cream. (even if he thinks it weird to lick the whisk and bowl).
I had always assumed that most people knew how to make their own whipped cream but as I talk with people, I am finding that to not be the case. People! It’s so incredibly easy and it tastes AMAZING! Forget the strawberries and shortcake, forget the ice cream, forget the hot cocoa. Just hand me a spoon and I will just eat it out of the bowl.
Really though, it IS super easy to make homemade whipped cream and it tastes better than any store bought kind. After trying this recipe, you will never go back.
Ingredients:
2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 t. Vanilla (optional)
Instructions:
This recipe is easier if you have a stand mixer with the whisk attachment but it is possible with a hand mixer as well. It just takes a bit longer. Also, make sure that your bowl and the whipping cream are super cold. This helps it whip up so much faster.
Add the whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla (if using) into the cold bowl and whisk until stiff peaks form. You don’t want to whisk too much (you’ll get butter if you do!) but you want it to be thick when you raise the whisk.
And that’s it. It’s so simple and so amazing!
Did you know?
You can actually FREEZE whipping cream? A lot of recipes using a small amount and then the leftovers sit in the fridge until they go bad. (or is that just at my house?) I recently learned that you can freeze the whipping cream and just thaw it out when you want to use it again.
You can also freeze whipped cream too! Just let it thaw when you want to use it. It will be a little more watery but it will still taste just as good.
I had a co-worker that sat and made homemade whipped cream at school one day. It did seem very easy, but she was missing some ingredients. It was good though. I can’t imagine what it would have tasted like if she would have had everything. Have a nice week.

I love homemade whipped cream, but never knew you could freeze it. Thanks for that info!
