Blueberry Donuts, My Work BFF, and a Weekend Update

Today was my work BFF’s last day in our office and the beginning of furthering his career elsewhere. I’m truly going to miss working with him. We’re still friends, so it’s not like I won’t chat with him now and then or anything but work definitely won’t be the same.

I had made these Lemon Blueberry donuts a little over a year ago and he’s asked for them a couple times again since. (And haven’t made them until now) So I knew what I would be making for his last day.

Lemon and Blueberry are one of my favorite flavor combinations and I could have eaten more than one. (Luckily, I had just enough to share with my department!)

You can find the recipe for these donuts here: https://www.livewellbakeoften.com/baked-lemon-blueberry-donuts/

This weekend is also Mother’s Day, so I will see my mom of course (and my MIL is away on a trip), but tomorrow is the Mother’s Day Taekwondo class and that’s always hilarious. Us moms all get out there on the mat in our yoga pants and bare feet and attempt to remember what we see our kids do in class. It is great exercise, I do have to admit. Unfortunately, Michael has to work and there won’t be anyone to take pictures of Shawn and I.

I also have some delicious cookies, bread, and a syrup I made (all in the same night. Don’t ask. Lol) that I want to get photographed too.

Ok, ok… twist my arm why don’t ya! I’ll tell you.. our local grocery store always runs a Spring berry promotion of Buy 2, Get 3 Free. Most times I buy them and we eat a lot of them and freeze the rest. However, we still have some frozen ones left over from last year, so I decided to make something out of them.

This was Sunday and by Thursday, I could see they were starting to age and wouldn’t last much longer. I was already baking the donuts, so I just moved right along. Surfing Pinterest for easy ideas on how to use up 5 lbs. of strawberries.

Strawberry Cookies, Strawberry Bread, and Strawberry Syrup made the cut and I still have about 1 lb. left but we have been munching them today, so I don’t think they’re going to last.

As much as I love the actual baking of the treats, I equally love the food styling part. I’m really looking forward to sharing it with you all.

XOXO, Jules

  3. Happy Mother’s Day Jules! Those donuts look great. I never was much of a baker and now my hubby does most of the cooking and I do the cleaning.
