(Nothing here is sponsored. I just wanted to share some things that I love)
When I was a senior in high school I worked at a department store in the housewares department. I was truly in my glory because I have always had a love for all things for the home. Decor, cleaning, bedding, etc. I am also probably the odd one out but I truly don’t mind cleaning and tending to the household chores. (Yes, I do complain like any other mom when everyone leaves “it to mom” and such too. I am somewhat normal after all. lol)
When I was 15-16 years old and up until I went away to college, I would spend my summer vacations playing “housewife”. I would babysit my younger siblings, clean the house, do the laundry and cook. I LOVED it all. My mom expected me to do chores but not to the extent in which I did it. How many other teenagers do you know that willingly take care of the entire house and enjoyed it? (I also didn’t earn an allowance for anything!)
So that leads me to today…
I still enjoy cleaning and taking care of my house. It’s not nearly as easy as it was back then since I work 40+ hours a week. Plus, taekwondo, puppy school for Merida, Shawn’s school (and doing hybrid schooling for the last year), and just life in general keep getting in the way. However, nevertheless, I am happy and content in just staying home and getting stuff done around the house.
I thought I would share with you a few brands that I use regularly in my house and that I simply LOVE!
(See Above) Mrs. Meyers Clean Day
OMG, if you have never used or even smelled this cleaning line you need to! This isn’t like using some of those strong “lemon” floor cleaners that is so overpowering (or OP as my 12 year old tells me all the cool kids are saying). This is a nice, almost soothing smell and incredibly refreshing to use.
We don’t have a dishwasher, so every night when I do up the days dishes the light lavender smell from the dish soap is relaxing and actually makes for a peaceful evening. I should also add that it cleans really well too! It’s not just a good smelling cleaning line but it really does work.
They have a bunch of other scents (and seasonal ones too. I highly recommend the Peppermint at Christmas!) Some of my favorites are Lemon Verbena, Lavender, and Peony. Plus the Peppermint seasonal scent. You can check out their website here!
I have followed Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond) since her blog was about 1-2 years old. She’s always fascinated me and I just love everything she does. So when she started coming out with her product line in Walmart, I couldn’t resist! What began as a “I’m just going to buy this table cloth and these cute cups for camping” has increased to cookware, bakeware, measuring cups, linens and more.
They really are pretty and actually makes cooking dinner feel a little bit sweeter. I use these particular stoneware pans for a number of meals from casseroles to just baking chicken breasts and everything has cooked wonderfully. This last Christmas Michael got me (but really for all of us) the entire PW cookware set and I love it so much!
I should also add that Michael knew that I wanted this cookware set ahead of time. Not that I am the type of person who gets upset if my husband was to buy me a vacuum cleaner for my birthday. He listens well to me when I talk about the things that I want (I very rarely ask for anything), so he “knew” I would love it.
As I am sure, most people are very familiar with Chip & Joanna Gaines. I think I have watched every episode of Fixer Upper at least 3 times and I just love Joanna’s style. I have a friend who lives in Waco and I am so incredibly jealous that they are literally “right there” and get to visit their shops on a regular basis.
Since I have no desire to move to Texas (unless you can get rid of the heat, then maybe I would consider it), so I just swoon over the selection of Hearth & Handâ„¢ with Magnolia items at Target. I love the simple and yet elegant and pretty items they carry. The canister set on the kitchen counter is wonderful and holds all my baking goods and they have a really nice weight to them. They’re also really easy to wash too.
We splurged on a bedding set (because honestly, their stuff is not inexpensive) and it’s really nice. Michael and I are two very different people when we sleep and need different things. The quilt that we bought is perfect for us both. He needs something that doesn’t trap too much heat and I need something that doesn’t put too much weight on my legs.
I am always looking for recommendations on other brands that people use and love. So if you have something that you love as much as I love these 3 housewares brands, please let me know! I would love to check them out.
XOXO, Jules
I love Mrs. Myers! I actually use the Rose dish soap (no dishwasher here either!) and we also use the Lemon Verbana hand soap for the kitchen and the Lavender for the bathroom. Love, love love this stuff! I also use Nellies Powder (out of Canada) for the wash/clothes. I will never go back to the name brands.
On the subject of bakeware; I buy only Corelle. When we moved here, I got rid of the other brands and spent time over in Corning (short drive) at the outlet. Great idea on a future post, grin!
Let’s see, recently, I splurged and bought a Duvet cover and Duvet. I had my mothers original one, but it was so heavy…anyways…great post! Thank you for the many smiles, Jules. Hope you have a beautiful day.
I love your choices! I too use Mrs Meyers. I like a lot of her scents. Fixer Upper! I think I’ve watched every one of the episodes too. I haven’t seen the canister set but it’s so pretty. I also have some of the PW bakeware,. I don’t have any great suggestions for you off the top of my head…
